• Original Construction: Dating back to the Ayutthaya period, originally known as Wat Makok (Olive Temple)
• Major Restorations:
• During the reign of King Taksin the Great, the temple was restored and renamed Wat Chaeng after the capital was established in Thonburi.
• During the reigns of King Rama II and King Rama III, the temple underwent a major restoration, including the construction of the central prang (Khmer-style tower) — one of the tallest in Thailand at approximately 80 meters.

• By BTS Skytrain: Take BTS to Saphan Taksin Station → Transfer to the Chao Phraya Express Boat → Get off at Tha Tien Pier → Take a ferry across the river to Wat Arun.
• By MRT: Get off at Sanam Chai Station → Walk to Tha Tien Pier → Cross the river by ferry.
• By Chao Phraya Express Boat: Accessible from Tha Tien, Tha Chang, or Tha Wang Lang piers.
• By Car: Parking is available but limited.
